Acrylic on Board

Acrylic on Board, 2003

This was a class project.  The idea was to make a collage, and then paint a picture from it.  When I was making this, Gulf War II had just begun in earnest, and I was naturally pretty upset about it.  Every image I used to make the original collage were low-resolution pictures from news websites – the painting became a reflection of the mish-mash of unreliable journalism that gets passed off as fact.  The main difference between then and now is that blogs are, of course, much more prominent. Unfortunately, mainstream news is no more reliable than it was before.
