This was my first Pretentious Colour Field Painting, not including the experimental forays I turned into some birthday cards in the fall of 2005.  No, “Untitled 01″ is not a bug in the title - that is actually what this is called.  If I gave it a name, then I would be ascribing some kind of symbolism to the imagery that isn’t there.

This shattered landscape is (very) loosely based on Vancouver.  It’s drawn from my brain, so the geography is funky.  The tallest building is the Shangri-La, the second tallest is the Wall Centre.  I guess.  This was a gift for Winston.

Say what you will about hipsters, they are fun to draw.  The title is derived from the four colour printing method: Cyan Magenta Yellow Black (or “CMYK”).  This was made as a Secret Santa gift.

Painted for Project 2 at the Shy Artist Society.  It is a portrait of my Mum.  Sometimes abstraction says more than representation.  It is also my triumphant return to Pretentious Colour Field Painting.

The second  “pretentious colour field painting” I made.  Painted for the Grad Art Auction at school.  It went for a cool $60 - which means that at least two people bidded on it.  (Minimum price was $40.)  Not quite ready to make a living from it, yet.
